The capitol of Kompong Thom province, Kompong Thom is a really just the town that sits at the cross-roads between Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, and T’beang Meanchey. A lunch stop at best, Kompong Thom is the jump off point for trips to the temples of Preah Vihear, Siem Reap, and the rest of the northwest. If you do get stuck here with time to kill, the temples of Sambor Pre Kup are about an hour out of town, a pre-Angkorian group of small brick built temples. |

Around Kompong Thom: (Novice)
The roads around town are all well paved.

The road to ‘TBY’, as the town is known to locals, is a dirt super-highway that rises up into the hill country.
Siem Reap: (Novice)
Big fat tarmac road all the way to Phnom Penh; just watch out for the traffic, it can get pretty nuts.
Phnom Penh: (Novice)
