Ban Lung

The capital of Ratanakirri province, Ban Lung is Cambodia’s jewel of the north, a sleepy little town in the heart of hilltribe country and hundreds of kilometres from the nearest tarmac. To the town’s south lies Yok Loam volcano lake. With cool, crystal-clear water, the lake makes for an ideal place to swim and wash off some of the regions notorious red dust. The Ka Chhoung & Chaa Ong waterfalls lie a few kilometres to the town’s west. To the north are various gem mining villages and minority hill tribes, the rugged Stung Sen river (as seen in Apocalypse Now) and the Lao border.High LightCrystal clear Yok Loam volcano lakeVirachey National ParkKa Chhoung & Chaa Ong waterfallsKrung and Hmong hilltribe villagesBokeo gem mining townban-lung

Around Ban Lung: (Novice)

Most of the major roads throughout Ratanakirri province are well-graded routes that twist and turn through mountainous jungle.

Stung Treng: (Novice)
The road to Stung Treng is a wide-open, well-graded logging route through wildlife-inhabited forest and only takes a few hours.
Sen Monorom: (Expert)

The ride south to Sen Monorom is one of Comabodia’s most difficult. The road, in many places, is little more than seldom used ox-cart tracks, and the absence of a support vehicle requires carrying extra water, food and petrol.
